FIRST, (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), was started by entrepreneur and inventor Dean Kamen, to spark creativity and excitement in the younger generation about solving problems with creative and innovative ideas. FIRST is a global organization, and when/if you join the community, you instantly are connected with other teams, and welcomed into a worldwide community. For our team and many others, FIRST has helped us branch out and come out of our shells, learning how to make new friends, speak publicly, win and lose graciously, and how to find joy in everything we do.

Even though you are competing against other teams, you are always rooting for them and trying to help out whenever you can, which actively demonstrates Gracious Professionalism, being kind and decent, whether you win or lose.

This can be a very challenging aspect, along with identifying a problem and solution wither the given category for your project, and that is why we have started mentoring teams and helping guide others.
